Carmel Galea has been performing and teaching classical and electric guitar since 1984. She studied for and gained her LLCM in the summer of 2000 being only one of a handful of female graduates in the country.

Since starting she has developed a highly successful teaching system, providing expert tuition from beginners up to diploma level students. Private tuition is catered for at the house near Preston, Lancashire; teaching is always undertaken on a one-to-one basis in pleasant and quiet surroundings with lesson lengths of half-hour or one-hour durations depending on the student’s age and ability.

Guitar examinations – from the lower grades up to Diploma standard – can be taken at the student’s request using the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. Assistance is available with regards to the purchase of classical and acoustic guitars and other associated accessories as well as sheet music and books. Carmel will provide tuition to groups of children wishing to participate at local primary and high schools in the Preston and Leyland area. The groups are taught simple chord strumming to begin with but then move on to playing various popular tunes. The guitar groups are encouraged to perform in assemblies, school concerts and busk at Christmas and summer fairs. This gives the children the opportunity to put into practice and express to an audience their level of achievement throughout the term.
